I’m writing this article to share with you the inauguration of the new assembly area, which happened last Friday with all of our staff here at Porta Solutions. We made a champagne toast to celebrate the increase of the machine assembly area to better serve our customers and even further reduce lead times!
Before the expansion the area was a total of 1,500 square meters indoor, now we have added another 1,200 sm indoor, for a total of 2,700 sm.
Also, last week we finished the installation of a 10-ton bridge crane, that will be used for the machine assembly.
FROM 1,500 TO 2,700 SM OF TOTAL INDOOR AREA
In addition to the building’s expansion, we have been implementing a plan for many months to increase the staff overseeing machine assembly. Indeed we have integrated two new employees every month for 6/7 months in order to introduce new technical staff properly trained with all the skills required for this position.
The 2018 investment plan has been moved up thanks to the growth of the sales which has produced an exponential increase in closed contracts. Contracts for which the company has been forced to hasten the expansion process compared to the original project timeline.
In the 2018 investment plan it was also decided upon to commit to the complete substitution of the AS400 system in order to boost and accelerate the inner procedures of management and orders. This investment has also been necessarily accelerated since October 2017 and it must follow other expansion in lockstep.
Currently we are in a upgrade phase for all the CAD stations for the mechanical designers that, by the end of February, will be completed together. Also in development is the integration of two more members for the design staff that will be integrate one within the end of January and the other one at the beginning of March.
